On June 23, an important event for the Cahier de Route association took place at the Cergy-Pontoise leisure centre: the inauguration of its Road Safety Bus by Jean-Luc Névache, prefect of the Val d'Oise, and Jean-Sébastien Barrault, Chairman of Groupe Lacroix and the Cahier de Route association.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony was held in the presence of Yves Jannier, the Pontoise public prosecutor, and Francine Occis, the mayor of Beauchamp.

The Road Safety Bus, previewed that day by pupils of the Paul Bert primary school in Beauchamp, was in fact an old Saviem S53 that had been totally revamped by the Cahier de Route team for use as a mobile prevention tool.

The purpose of this unusual vehicle is to teach children road safety in a fun and educational way via 3 distinct spaces :

  • An Information space located at the front of the vehicle and displaying all the information media developed by the association in relation to road safety, behaviour and mobility.
  • An Interactive space with 5 computers on which pupils could test their knowledge of safety in a fun way.
  • A Lounge area located at the rear of the vehicle where pupils could watch educational videos and discuss them with the group leader.
With the help of these interactive spaces, the children were able to demonstrate their knowledge of road safety to the prefect.

At the end of the morning, each child was awarded a Road Safety certificate by association members, together with a backpack and a reflective bracelet.

With this Road Safety Bus, the Cahier de Route association was once again able to demonstrate its commitment to risk prevention and child protection.
